Any treatment necessary to maintain your oral health is available on the NHS. However, NHS dentistry requires people to contribute to the cost of their dental care. Some treatments (mainly cosmetic) are not available under the NHS but you can choose to have these treatments carried out privately.
NHS charges depend on the type of treatment and the NHS ‘band’ the treatment falls into.

You will be exempt from having to pay for NHS dental treatment if you are:
Help with NHS Dental Health Costs
Under 18, or Under 19 and In Full-Time Education
Pregnant or Have Had a Baby in the Previous 12 Months
Being Treated in an NHS Hospital and Your Treatment Is Carried out By the Hospital Dentist (You May Have to Pay for Dentures or Bridges)
Receiving Low-Income Benefits, or You Are Under 20 and a Dependant of Someone Receiving Low-Income Benefits
You Are Also Entitled to Free NHS Dental Treatment If You or Your Spouse (Including Civil Partner) Receive:

Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance (Not Contribution Based)
Income-Based Jobseeker’s Allowance (Not Contribution Based)
Pension Credit (Not Savings Credit)

You May Be Entitled to Reduced Costs If You Have an HC3 Certificate which is Valid During the Course of Your Treatment
